First Voice Festival
    The August Wilson Center for African American Culture presents the First Voice Festival at 7 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. The evening will feature fellow Marlana Vassar’s “Gallery Talk: Call and Response,” series of large-scale paintings that reflect visual narratives of local, theatrical, music and dance concerts. Jazz Jam
    CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. Nathan James
    The August Wilson Center for African American Culture presents Nathan James’ “Growing Pains” at 8 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This one man show filled with spoken word poetry, monologues, movement and multi-media imagery gives a first-hand look at the births of the mentalities of urban African-American males. On the Glass Surf
    SPACE presents “On the Glass Surf” at SPACE Gallery, 812 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. Thad Kellstadt strings together video installation and sound to create a haunted paradise on the border of fracture and utopia. The exhibit will run through June 30. JazzLive
