PRAIRIE VIEW A&M UNIVERSITY TO HOST WOMEN OF A NEW TRIBE EXHIBITION

Charlotte, NC – The Art Gallery in the John B. Coleman Library on the campus of the historic Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) will open the internationally acclaimed photographic exhibition WOMEN OF A NEW TRIBE on 1 October 2013.

This incredible collections of black and white imagery by photographer Jerry Taliaferro, celebrates the physical and spiritual beauty of the black women that inhabit our everyday lives.  It has been traveling continuously since its premiere in Charlotte, NC in June 2002.    Often the photographer travels to the hosting communities to photograph locals women whose images are included in the exhibition.   This has made the WOMEN OF A NEW TRIBE Project into a living and evolving  mosaic of the Black American female.

Prairie View A&M  University will join a number of colleges and universities that have hosted the exhibition including Yale, the University Of Arkansas and Susquehanna University,

In August 2013,  Mr. Taliaferro will travel to the campus of PVAMU to photograph a number local subjects to be featured in a special section of the exhibition entitled “Queens”.   Female students, faculty, staff, alumnae and supporters of PVAMU are invited to participate (click on following link to 1876 Magazine for more information).    PVAMU Exhibit Seeking Models.
