Brown Bag Lunch Series
JULY 10—Volunteers of America will host its Brown Bag Lunch Series from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, 1650 Main St., Pittsburgh. Scot Teachout, of Sandler Training, will facilitate the “Break the Rules and Close More Sales” seminar that will help attendees to develop skills to move up to the next level or continue to perform at status quo. Quarterly Meeting
JULY 15—The Western Pennsylvania Minority Supplier Development Council will host the National Minority Supplier Development Council Quarterly Meeting at 3 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel, 107 Sixth St., Downtown. JULY 16—Duquesne University’s School of Leadership and Professional Advancement will host its Leadership Breakfast Series from 7:30-10 a.m. at Duquesne’s Power Center Ballroom West, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. The topic will be “Leading a Global Environment.” Dorothy Bassett, dean of the SLPA, will facilitate this educational and networking event that will explore the impact of organizations on countries and regions beyond their own; explore the pivotal role of global leaders; provide the framework for developing skills to become global leaders; and more. First Step
JULY 17—Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center will host the “First Step: Business Start-Up Essentials” workshop at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. This free seminar is for individuals without previous experience. Topics that will be discussed are employee issues, business structure and formation, government procurement, major components of a business plan and more. JULY 19—The University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence will host “The Second Step: Developing a Business Plan” from 7:30-10 a.m. at Mervis Hall, Roberto Clemente Dr., Oakland. Attendees will learn about operational and production planning, conducting market research and creating financial spreadsheets to attract funding for one’s business.
