PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pittsburgh man has been jailed on charges he stabbed his live-in girlfriend with scissors, allegedly because she had the TV turned up too loud.

Police say 56-year-old Dwayne Craig was standing on the front porch, crying and covered in blood, asking police to shoot him when they responded to the couple’s home early Sunday.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Craig, who faces a preliminary hearing July 18 on aggravated assault and attempted homicide charges. He remained jailed Tuesday unable to post bond.

Craig’s girlfriend, who is mother to his two children, told police the couple were talking about drinking scotch when he became upset shortly before 6 a.m.

Police say he threatened to kill the woman and stabbed her so hard in the chest and armpit that the scissors broke.
