CHUKKY OKOBI
PITTSBURGH (AP) – A bouncer at a Pittsburgh bar has sued former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Chukky Okobi (oh-KOH’-bee) for injuries he suffered in a brawl that saw Okobi fined $100.
Okobi was originally charged with five counts of simple assault after several people confronted him when he argued with his girlfriend at a South Side bar on Aug. 25. Okobi was fined after pleading guilty to a single harassment citation in April, which his attorney then called a “favorable outcome.”
But now Joseph Kania, a bouncer who claims he suffered a concussion when Okobi punched him, is suing. Kania also contends the Bar Room’s staff was wrong to continue serving Okobi after he was visibly drunk.
Okobi played seven NFL seasons, including from 2001 to 2006 with Pittsburgh.
Okobi and the bar have yet to respond to Thursday’s lawsuit.
