Zimmerman has higher approval rating among Republicans than Obama

If someone walked up to you and asked, ‘who has the higher approval rating, the President of the United States of America or the man who gunned down an unarmed teenager,’ what would be your answer? You’d probably opt for former versus the latter, but that means you’re probably not a Republican.

A new Fox News poll of Republican voters showed that Republicans actually have a higher opinion of George Zimmerman than President Obama. Only 18 percent of those polled have a favorable opinion of the man the majority of Americans elected twice to lead this country, while a whopping 79 percent of Republican voters have an unfavorable opinion of him.

Contrast that with vigilante George Zimmerman who, after being acquitted of k!lling Trayvon Martin, has a 45 percent favorability rating among Republicans. Only 27 percent of respondents have a negative view of Zimmerman.

This seems to go to the heart of the reactionary nature of American politics, meaning if Democrats are against something, then Republicans are for it, no matter what it is. In this case, the Republican hostility toward Obama is so high that they’re willing to place an admitted k!ller ahead of Obama where likeability is concerned.

If Zimmerman ever declares himself a supporter of all things Obama, there’s little doubt that Republicans would change their assessment of the self-appointed neighborhood watchman. This is, of course, also a product of right wing media, which went to bat for Zimmerman after Obama said, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.” Once Obama said that, the gloves came off and Republicans took Zimmerman under their protective wing.
