We love to meet groups new to the New Pittsburgh Courier and we especially love new venues.

On Aug. 3, Dr. Judith C. Moore and Rev. June Jeffries came together as “The Gathering” to present Fabulous Fashions Take it Back 2 at the beautiful Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in West Mifflin.

The fashion show was a show on a mission to share vital health information, life altering experiences and fellowship with the goal of “saving ourselves now.”

This show did not do the traditional scenes of casual, business and dressy but used a color wheel to define their scenes.

The scenes started with black, the color of mourning, melanoma and gang prevention.

Grey is  a symbol of diabetes, asthma and brain cancer, red is most commonly associated with the fight against AIDS and HIV. Purple represents ADD, Alzheimer’s, Crohn’s disease and colitis while pink is most commonly associated with breast cancer awareness.

The show ended with white, a symbol of innocence, peace, right to life, bone cancer and retinal blastoma.

The fashion show was coordinated by Lady Kim Lankford, co-founder of Oasis Ministries Inc.

Lady Lankford stays busy with designing clothes for her creative and exciting runway shows.

Her goal is to mentor woman and build their self-esteem and let them know that any size can rip the runway if you have confidence and are well trained.
