Chocolate is by far one of the most popular food items all over the world.
Not only is chocolate delicious, but it is nutrient rich, making it healthy for you. Made from cocoa beans, this heavenly food is a delectable option when trying to satisfy a sweet tooth while maintaining a healthy lifestyle and slim waist. Newer research suggests that dark chocolate is also actually good for the heart.
Would you be surprised to find out that eating more chocolate could actually be beneficial?
Just remember, all chocolate isn’t created equal nutrient wise. The more that the chocolate is processed, the lesser health benefits it retains. This is the reason that raw cacao products have gained such popularity lately, as they are considered super foods, with super benefits. Regular dark chocolate is also relatively healthy as it does not contain too many unhealthy added ingredients like high fructose corn syrup.
Behold! I am going to list, the top 4 reasons why YOU should begin eating more chocolate!
#1 Lowers Blood Pressure
Scientific research supports that dark chocolate lowers blood pressure in those that suffer from elevated levels. When a person experiences the uneasy feeling of low sugar levels, a chocolate bar can act as an immediate stimulus.
#2 High in Antioxidants
Cocoa contains flavanols; a flavanoid that is only found in cocoa and chocolate. Flavanoids act as an antioxidant, by helping to counteract free radicals in the body.
#3 Natural Anti-Depressant
Chocolate contains serotonin; a natural anti-depressant also aids in the production of endorphins, which create feelings of joy and pleasure. In fact, one research study showed that allowing the chocolate to melt in the mouth was more pleasurable than passionate kissing. This also explains why many people naturally reach for chocolate when they’re feeling depressed.
#4 Fights Cancer
Several studies have shown that shows that chocolate works as a cancer fighter in two ways, because it inhibits cell division and also reduces inflammation.
Consuming anything in over excess can have adverse effects and will not be positive on our health. So, adequate consumption should be kept in mind.
