BANKING ON OUR YOUTH—Citizens Bank colleagues and volunteers from the Homeless Children’s Education Fund gathered in front of a school bus at the bank’s Pittsburgh headquarters fully loaded with new backpacks filled with school supplies to be distributed to local homeless children.

Citizens Bank colleagues recently loaded school buses with backpacks filled with new school supplies to be distributed to local children in homeless shelters as part of Citizens’ Gear for Grades program. New school supplies were collected at Citizens Bank branches across western Pennsylvania and filled in logo-free backpacks to help ensure children return to school with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

The Gear for Grades program is part of Citizens Helping Citizens Strengthen Communities, the bank’s program for contributing to the economic vitality of communities. This year, 4,550 children in western Pennsylvania will receive backpacks. Since 2003, the program has helped more than 215,000 children across the bank’s 12-state footprint. For the 10th year in a row, Citizens has partnered with the Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF) in Pittsburgh.

Citizens Helping Citizens Strengthen Communities is part of the bank’s broader Citizens Helping Citizens program addressing five key areas: hunger, housing, economic development, financial education and volunteerism. Get more information about Citizens Bank’s community initiatives online.
