State of Black Pittsburgh

OCT. 26—The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will host the State of Black Pittsburgh Conference 2013 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd., Downtown. National Urban League President & CEO Marc Morial will be the keynote luncheon speaker. There will be a job and resource fair, various workshops, followed by the 95th Anniversary Luncheon. There will also be a kids and youth track for ages 4-18. Children’s Halloween Party

OCT. 26—The WEMCO Club will host its Children’s Halloween Party from 12-3 p.m. at 7325 Frankstown Ave., Homewood. This is for children 12 years old and under, a costume is required, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call Mike Nichols of 412-660-4805.

NAACP Banquet

OCT. 26—The NAACP of Beaver County will host its 16th Annual Human Rights Banquet at 6 p.m. at the Beaver Falls Holiday Inn, 7195 Eastwood Dr., Beaver Falls, Pa. This year’s guest DeWitt Walton, of the United Steelworkers, will speak on the topic of “Personal Responsibility.” There will also be a special presentation honoring the Beaver County Tuskegee Airmen. Blood Drive

The theme is “A healthy home breeds a healthy life.” This is an opportunity to learn more about cost saving energy programs and home improvement services for homeowners, renters, seniors, low-income residents and more. Financial Aid Workshop

This workshop is for middle and high school students and their parents with the belief that the provision of early and accurate information can support students who are thinking of higher education opportunities.
