The teen participants of Gateway’s Journey to Medicine Youth Mentorship Program were introduced, along with a recognition of their families. The Journey to Medicine educates and mentors minority pre-adolescent males in the art and science of medicine. The program aims to inspire and guide them as they matriculate through secondary education and beyond. Many participants then choose to enter into the field of medicine and the allied health professions.

The Society promotes public health and the general welfare of the community through professional development, networking, and community education. This membership organization is comprised of physicians and health care professionals from throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania, raises awareness among minority and disadvantaged populations through strategic outreach and education initiatives. Gateway Medical Society connects experts with audiences who can benefit from health care knowledge, access to education, and aspiring to careers in health care professions. Celebrating its 50th year, Gateway Medical Society has membership based on representing a broad constituency of providers and patients.
