The Alliance for Police Accountability held the “One Year-Later-Justice is Needed for Leon Ford and the Neighborhoods Under Zone 5 Police Jurisdiction” rally and Press Conference on Nov. 12 at the City-County Building. Community leaders, citizens and friends and family of Ford participated in the rally and press conference, which took place on the one-year anniversary of the shooting of Leon Ford Jr. by Pittsburgh police. The rally was held to demonstrate a demand of justice for Ford and no tolerance for police misconduct. The shooting officer, David Derbish, is still patrolling the streets even though he is being investigated for deadly use of force. There has been no indication of what the status of the investigation is. Attorney for the parents of Trayvon Martin and a consultant for Ford’s case, Benjamin Crumb, pictured above with Ford’s parents Leon Ford Sr. and Latonya Green, speaks out on the injustice and danger of having an officer on the streets  accused of violating the law.
