In a span of eight years Cochran has started a business that grossed over a half-million dollars, sold that company to a Fortune 500 company, and since launched another business in a completely different industry. “In the financial sector I was making a lot of money but I noticed a lot of people in the community in need of jobs and help, so it inspired me to explore other industries where I could help and provide opportunities for these people.” says Cochran.

Her compassion for others in need prompted Cochran after eight years of operation to sell The Tax Place, a premier professional tax preparation company in Detroit with five locations, to enter the multi-billion dollar Black hair industry. As a result, Pure Strands, a 100% human hair extension line was launched. Never forgetting why she entered the market altogether, Cochran spent long hours coming up with fresh ideas and concepts to help and inspire others to get involved in entrepreneurship. “My ultimate goal was to really inspire people to make money and not place their financial fate on someone else.” Cochran says. Which is why she now offers a nationwide distribution program for individuals to also sell hair extensions.

Experience has conditioned Cochran but her thirst for more knowledge has earned her an Associate of General Studies from Macomb County Community College, Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration as well as an Associates of General Business from Wayne County Community College, and her current status as a senior at Eastern Michigan University with her sights on earning a bachelors in Business Management.

The passion she possesses for business and entrepreneurship is also shared in her community projects. Cochran has invested a lot of time with her own foundation, The Blackwood Organization; where she supplements other foundations, provides food and clothing during the holiday seasons, and donates to different shelters across the city.

Her zeal for success and desire to give back has earned Cochran much success and respect, it has also made her a force to be reckoned with.
