12th Ward Dems announce Fielder new Chair, once again

Pittsburgh, PA – Jacque Fielder felt compelled to come out of Ward Chair retirement to lead the 12th Ward Democratic Committee, once again.
In a unanimous decision on Tuesday evening at the Kingsley Association, Jacque Fielder was elected to complete the term of former Chair, Dennis James who resigned from the committee in September along with his vice chair. Kevin B. Wells was elected as Vice Chair.
Ms. Fielder is the daughter of the late Ward Boss, Dock Fielder, Jr.  She diligently served the ward as a committeewoman for 14 years and a Ward Chair for 7 years before retiring in 2010 after her father became ill.
“I’m excited to be back as the 12th Ward Chair. I’m looking forward to working with the new Mayor and other elected officials in the City to bring growth and 22nd Century Development to our community.”
In addition to increasing voter turnout in the 12th Ward, the committee, will primarily focus on three goals: economic development that improves the quality of life for the ward, public safety and education.
During Ms. Fielder’s tenure: The New Pittsburgh Courier named the committee as the best Democratic Committee in Allegheny County; Former Allegheny County Democratic Committee Chair Jim Burn named them as one of the best committees; B-PEP named them three-time award recipients for outstanding election results in an African-American community.
The committee was best known for successfully mobilizing communities into taking lead roles in the development of their own communities and for hostingTown Hall, Meet the Candidate and HOLA (Hold Our Leaders Accountable) Meetings that gave voters a direct platform to be heard and to question candidates and elected officials from the federal, state, county and city governments who wanted their vote.
