The Just Us Club of Park Place AME Church recently presented a fashion show themed “The Best is yet to Come,” at the Doubletree Hotel in Monroeville.
The Just Us Club was organized in 1954 under the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Charles E. Drummer Sr. He had a vision which involved women who could embark on faith and serve in the uplifting of God’s kingdom.

The show featured fashions from a Woman’s Touch, the Men’s Warehouse and designer Sofiya Mozley. Ladies and gents enjoyed a great lunch and an outstanding fashion show. Each store and designer was well represented.
Chico Butler appeared as a guest model wearing zoot suits in hues from pink to charcoal.
The Just Us Club has always supported the youth, giving individually and collectively: clothes, toys, food, holiday parties, skating outings and fellowship to the needy as their sacrificial gifts.

In the 1970s, “Fall into Fashions with the Just Us Club” became the theme and has been its source of raising monies for many church projects.
The Helping Hand Scholarship Aid Program was established in 1983. The Just Us Club realized there was a need to aid and support the youth as they work to reach their goals in higher education.
To date, 121 scholarships have been awarded from this program.
