In the spirit of its motto, “Making a World of Difference,” especially during the holiday season, Champion Enterprises, along with Santa Claus, distributed more than 740 toys, along with clothing and canned goods, to children and families in need at its 37th annual Toys for Champions, aka Toys for Tots, Christmas party and toy giveaway held Dec. 22 at the Penn Avenue McDonald’s, in Wilkinsburg.
The event, co-sponsored by Chuck Sanders Charities and the Penn Avenue McDonald’s, gave “good boys and girls” ages 5-12 toys.
“We continue to do this because we realize there are still a lot of children and families still in need within our communities,” said Bill Neal, CEO of Champion Enterprises. “The evidence is there when individuals stand outside in the rain just to get two or three toys. It’s a very small task to raise money, call upon our sponsors and buy these toys. It’s a very good thing to do and it makes all that we do each year worthwhile.”
Along with the Chuck Sanders Charities and Iftakhar Malic, the event’s host sponsor, Neal wanted to also thank the US Marines, Highmark, Bobby Franklin, Mattel Toys, Debbie Norrell and Elan Financial Services.
