Exhibition Opening
Concept Art Gallery presents “Vanessa German: Citizen Art” from 6-8 p.m. at 1031 S. Braddock Ave., Swissvale. This exhibition features the iconic mixed media sculptures of award winning sculptor, photographer and poet Vanessa German. She uses various objects that speak to history of the African-American experience, women and more. The exhibit will be showcased through Feb. 8. Jazz Jam
CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. Pittsburgh Collects
The Silver Eye Center for Photography presents “Pittsburgh Collects” at 1015 E. Carson St., South Side. The exhibit showcases 75 selected works contributed by an anonymous photography collector, along with Evan Mirapaul and Graham Shearing. This will be the last showing. Nationality Rooms
The University of Pittsburgh presents its annual Nationality Rooms Holiday Exhibit from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Cathedral of Learning, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland. Through Jan. 17, various classrooms displaying different nationalities will be adorned with its traditional holiday decorations reflecting their ethnic heritages. Individuals will have the opportunity to visit each room and learn about the different backgrounds. Tours are available. Exhibit Opening
The PNC Legacy Project presents its “Celebrating Black History Month” Exhibit from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the 600 Liberty Ave., Downtown. The exhibit honors the contributions of celebrated and everyday Pittsburghers, along with documenting the city’s transformation over the past 200 years. The exhibit will include touch screen timelines, oral histories, touch screen panels displaying historic images and more. The exhibit is free and open daily to the public.
