Passport to Success
JAN. 22—The Community College of Allegheny County will host its Passport to Success from 6-8 p.m. at all locations. The theme is “Avoid Baggage Fees-CCAC Can Get You to Your Destination Without a Lifetime of Debt.” Every month through April, CCAC will offer workshops that explore in-depth a topic relevant to those considering a college education. Summit Against Racism
JAN. 25—The Black and White Reunion will host the 16th Annual Summit Against Racism from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Highland Ave., East Liberty. The day-long conference will include workshops, panel discussions, information tables, and education and strategies for racial justice. Registration is requested and will include breakfast and lunch. Ready to Run
JAN. 25—Chatham University’s Pennsylvania Center for Women and Politics will host Ready to Run Pittsburgh from 8 a.m.-5:45 p.m. at Chatham University, Woodland Rd., Shadyside. The afternoon will feature speech and media trainer Deb Sofield and “Fundraising For Success” political speaker and educator Nancy Bocskor. This is for community leaders who are looking for advice on fundraising, public speaking and how to gain a better understanding of regional politics. Registration is required. Teenage Driver’s Safety
FEB. 4—South Hills Chrysler Jeep Kia will host its Teenage Driver’s Safety Night from 6-8 p.m. at the South Hills Chrysler Jeep Kia Showroom, 3344 Washington Rd., McMurray. The event will allow teenage drivers and their parents an opportunity to discuss a number of topics with first responders and service professionals.Topics will include distracted driving, insurance costs and more. Father/Daughter Dinner Dance
FEB. 8—The Allegheny Family Network will host its 3rd annual Father Daughter Dinner Dance from 5-9 p.m. at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, 478 E. Waterfront Dr., Homestead. The theme is “Making Memories, a Dance With My Father.” There will be a live DJ, a catered dinner, door prizes, photos and keepsakes. Space is limited and reservations are requested. Education Conference
FEB. 26—The Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education Inc. will host its 44th annual PBCOHE Conference at the Double Tree Hotel/ Monroeville Convention Center, Monroeville Plaza Blvd., Monroeville. The theme is “Campus Climate: Cultural Identity-Evolution or Digression?” The conference, which will run through March 1, will give attendees the opportunity to examine the needs of African-Americans and minorities in Pennsylvania when it comes to higher education.
