MSNBC adds Joy Reid, moves Tamron Hall up on daytime schedule

MSNBC has announced that effective Feb. 24, Joy Reid, a regular contributor to the network and managing editor of TheGrio.com, will anchor her own one hour daily show, The Reid Report, fromĀ  2 – 3 pm. Also announced was the new timeslot for “News Nation” with Tamron Hall at 11 am.
“Tamron has established herself as one of the best news anchors in the business. It strengthens us to have her hosting during our morning news block,” said Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC. The “Andrea Mitchell Reports” will move to 12 pm ET.

Reid is also a political columnist for “The Miami Herald” and editor of the politics blog The Reid Report. Reid has worked in television and radio news since 1998 and her columns have appeared in a variety of outlets including Salon.com.
Taking over the Hall’s1 pm timeslot is Ronan Farrow, a former foreign policy official in the first Obama administration. He founded the State Department’s Office of Global Youth Issues and reported to the Secretary of State as the United States’ first Special Adviser for Global Youth during the Arab Spring revolutions. He also served for two years as a US diplomat focused on the conflict in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A lawyer and a Rhodes Scholar, Farrow has written about human rights and foreign policy outlets including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.
“One of the highlights of this job is finding new talent,” said Griffin. “Ronan and Joy are two of the most thoughtful and impressive journalists out there and I’m excited for what they will bring to the afternoon.”
