ToTell The Truth…Not forgotten acts of racism throughout Allegheny County

Some examples of racist acts under the Democratic Party that were challenged by the recipients of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit of King Award were:
1. Blacks prohibited from swimming pools in city and county.
2. Blacks could not drive trucks for city or county.
3. Blacks could not be deputy sheriffs, county police or city police.
4. Blacks could not be assistant district attorneys.
5. Blacks denied contracts construction, goods or service
6. Democratic Party in Western Pennsylvania has never endorsed a Black for mayor, state senate or U.S. Congress.
6. I remember when in the City of Pittsburgh in the highway and sewers division that only White men could drive the trucks and they wore white shirts and ties. All Black men had to enter the sewers.
As you read this column ask yourself when the city of Pittsburgh is described as someplace special is it inclusive of Blacks, you and your families and friends? Yes there exist a definite reason that Pittsburgh is described as up South.
