County looking for police officers

Allegheny County is accepting applications for police officers. Anyone interested must submit a completed application by Friday, Feb. 14, either by mail or in person to the Department of Human Resources, 102 County Office Building, 542 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219.

To be eligible, applicants must be US citizens, have a high school diploma or GED and must be 18 years of age. A non-refundable $20 testing fee must be submitted with the application in the form of a cahier’s check or money order made payable to “County of Allegheny.” The fee may be waived for those with proof of eligibility for public assistance.

Applicants will then take a multiple-choice exam on Saturday, March 29. Successful applicants will also undergo background investigation, psychological and medical examinations, and complete a physical agility test.

The county, in partnership with Community College of Allegheny County will offer test prep sessions at all four campuses and both CCAC centers. Candidates will be notified of specific session information with the test administration letters mailed to their homes.
