ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – A staffing agency that contracts with Albuquerque’s Convention Center is apologizing for a Craigslist ad that portrayed The Rev. Jesse Jackson as a waiter.

Snelling General Manager Valerie Santillanes said Wednesday the mistake happened while putting together an ad that sought temporary banquet service workers.
She says she was focused on the wording and the waiter’s attire and didn’t realize the image she found online was a picture of Jackson.
The president of the National Council of Negro Women, Cecilia Webb, tells KRQE (https://bit.ly/MugoWo) she contacted several people after learning about the ad. She described it as “somewhat racist.”

Santillanes says it was a careless mistake and the ad was removed within an hour of being posted.
Convention center officials say they will keep a closer eye on any advertising associated with the center.
