PITTSBURGH (AP) – The owner of a Homewood bar where one man was fatally shot and four others wounded has agreed to keep the business closed until meeting with detectives from the district attorney’s office.
Allegheny County DA’s spokesman Mike Manko says the meeting will happen Wednesday.
Authorities have yet to release the name of the owner of the Rendezvous Phase III bar where the shooting happened about 1:20 a.m. Saturday.
City police have yet to charge anyone or name suspects in the shooting that killed 27-year-old Vincent Edward Holt Jr. and wounded four others.
Police say four security guards fled the scene before police could interview them.
Investigators were hoping video surveillance footage can help them identify a suspect.
SEIU again rallying outside UPMC’s downtown HQ
PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Service Employees International Union says hundreds of people including University of Pittsburgh Medical Center workers and their supporters were again rallying outside the hospital network’s downtown offices.
A group of 300 protesters grew to more than 1,000 on Monday, blocking traffic on a main downtown street at various times. Police used more than 40 officers to keep the peace Monday and say they’re hoping to keep the group out of the streets on Tuesday.
The union, SEIU HealthCare Pennsylvania, has been trying to organize blue-collar UPMC workers, and wants hourly wages increased to at least $15. That’s more than the $11 UPMC pays entry-level cooks, custodians and other staff – not counting health, vacation and other benefits.
Union spokeswomen haven’t immediately commented on claims that many protesters have been bused in.
