PITTSBURGH (AP) – A man wanted on charges he shot to death his pregnant girlfriend was found dead in Homewood Friday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after tweeting about his girlfriend’s killing, police said.
Pittsburgh police went to the home in the 7900 block of Hamilton Avenue just before 3 a.m. to arrest Kerrese Lawrence, 20, on charges of criminal homicide and homicide of an unborn child. Officers heard gunshots and later found Lawrence dead inside. An autopsy was ongoing Friday afternoon, but police expected the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office to confirm that Lawrence shot himself.
Police had charged Lawrence with shooting Lauren Williams, 20, on Wednesday. Lawrence allegedly ambushed the woman by hiding in a vacant building until he confronted her as she left a home in the city’s Garfield section with a friend.

The friend identified Lawrence from a photo lineup and told police he had threatened Williams.
Williams had told police in the neighboring suburb of Penn Hills police that Lawrence broke into her apartment there, and threatened to kill her and himself with a gun Tuesday morning.
Williams called 911 while at work Wednesday, saying Lawrence called her and repeated the threats. That call and the earlier report apparently angered Lawrence, police said.
“She told on me. I’m spanking her,” Lawrence tweeted before the shooting. Moments after it, he tweeted, “I smoked her.” The tweets have since been deleted.
