Informational Fair
MAY 8–The Wilkinsburg Affordable Housing Coalition will host an informational housing fair to inform residents about housing repair services and other programs available to them, from 6:30–8 p.m. at the Landmarks Preservation Resource Center, 744 Rebecca Ave., Wilkinsburg. Attendees will learn more about low-and no-cost services offered by local organization, including home repairs, weatherization, reduced-cost services, and free financial, homebuyer education and counseling services. Free Home Buying Workshop
May 12—A free home buying workshop for first-time homebuyers will be held at 6 p.m. at Landmarks Housing Resource Center, 744 Rebecca Ave., Wilkinsburg. Attendees will learn about credit counseling and restoration programs; grant money for closing costs; affordable mortgages and down payment options; programs to help public housing residents; section 8 tenants and renters; and their free credit report and evaluation. NAACP Meeting
MAY 13—The Pittsburgh Unit of the NAACP will host its Executive and General Meeting at 7 p.m. at Freedom Unlimited, 2201 Wylie Ave., Hill District. Leadership Awards Gala
MAY 16—Three Rivers Youth will host the 2014 Nellie Leadership Awards Gala from 6-9 p.m. at the Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. The theme is “A Taste of New Orleans.” This is an opportunity to celebrate their work with youth and families, and to honor community champions. Walk for Health

Youth Sports Award
MAY 17—The Steel City Sports World will host its 2nd Annual Youth Education and Sports Awards Banquet from 12-3 p.m. at Hosanna House, 807 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg. The keynote speaker will be former Pittsburgh Pirate Al Oliver and Chris Moore will be the master of ceremonies.
