The Fund for Advancement of Minorities through Education in East Liberty held its 16th Annual Luncheon April 24 at the Duquesne Club. The organization supports African-American students financially and academically at independent schools in the greater Pittsburgh area. FAME Scholars and graduating seniors were celebrated. The keynote speaker was Laura Shapira Karet, CEO at Giant Eagle Inc., and also in attendance were additional corporate and philanthropic partners from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and PNC Financial Services Group, just to name a few.
