When will we cease asking how do other cities elect Blacks to important political positions and Pittsburgh never does? Pittsburgh had one Black person to serve briefly in the position of president of Pittsburgh City Council—and I mean briefly.
We had to file a federal lawsuit to make it possible for a Black person to get elected to Pittsburgh City Council.
The following are important powerful political positions that no Black person has ever held in a political party the Blacks have overwhelmingly supported for 80 YEARS—the Democratic Party.
1. Mayor
2. State senator
3. U.S. Congressman
4. Allegheny County Commissioner or County executive
5. Allegheny County District Attorney
6. Allegheny County Sheriff
7. Allegheny County President Judge
8. Allegheny County Democratic Party Chairperson
