RACE Exhibition
The Carnegie Museum of Natural History presents “RACE: Are We So Different?’ at 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. This exhibition looks at the ways science and human-history has intersected to form our understanding and beliefs about race. It explores the history of the idea of race, the changing role of science in that history and so much more. The exhibit will be displayed through Oct. 27. Jazz Jam
CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. JazzLive International Festival
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presents the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival. The three-day features free jazz and jazz influenced musical, performances on outdoor stages throughout the Cultural District. Record Breaking Line Dance
The Dignity & Respect Campaign and The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust present the “Take A Healthy Step” Line Dancing event at 7:30 p.m. at Ninth and Penn Avenues, in the Cultural District. The event is part of the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival. This event is to engage the community in dignity and respect, all while attempting to break the world’s line dancing record. Film Screening/Discussion
Rights and Responsibilities presents Dark Girls: A film screening and discussion from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, East Liberty Branch, 130 S. Whitfield St., East Liberty. There will be a screening of the documentary “Dark Girls,” poetry by Vanessa German, and a panel discussion on Black women and colorism, moderated by Demetria Bocella and featuring Beverly Goodwin, Stanley Denton and Yolanda Covington-Ward. SHINE YOUR LIGHT Concert
Bethany Baptist Church and Diakonia Ministries presents the SHINE YOUR LIGHT Benefit Concert at 6 p.m. at The New Hazlett Theater, 6 Allegheny Square East, North Side. This concert is a Broadway Cantata benefit celebrating Faith, Hope and Love. Proceeds will benefit Bethany Baptist and Diakonia Ministries, both of Homewood.
