Family says goodbye to Dozier 'Doc' Frazier, city's first Black civil engineer

Family and friends said farewell to a man who not only made a difference in the Pittsburgh area structurally, as the city’s first Black civil engineer, but also as a beloved member of the community.
Dozier Newton Frazier, of East Liberty, died June 28 at the age of 87.
Frazier is survived by his daughters Lydia, of Florida, and Dozita, of Illinois; grandchildren Destanie and Jazzlyn; sister Elsie; and brothers James and Andrew.
Arrangements for Frazier’s Homegoing were handled by Spriggs & Watson Funeral home and included visitation July 2 at their funeral home on North Lang Avenue, in Homewood, followed by a funeral service July 3 at Destiny Ministries on Lemington Avenue in East Liberty.
