    AUG. 7—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host its Lunch & Learn Series at 12:15 p.m. at the Downtown & Business Branch, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. The topic will be “Combating the High Costs of Low Morale.” Robert O’Friel, of O’Friel Consulting, will discuss ways to combat low morale to minimize financial impacts, reduced costs and improve one’s overall bottom line. First Step Workshop
    AUG. 7—Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center will host its “First Step: Business Start-Up Essentials” Workshop from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. This is for new business start-ups and entrepreneurs without previous business experience. There will be a discussion on topics such as business structure and formation, employee issues, insurance, financing options and much more. Brown Bag Lunch Series
    AUG. 20—Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania will host its Brown Bag Lunch Series from 12-1 p.m. at the Volunteers of America of Pa headquarters, 1650 Main St., Pittsburgh. The topic will be “Media Marketing” facilitated by Ola Jackson of the Onyx Women Network. This is a celebration of Black Business Month and an opportunity for attendees to learn how to build their voice in the Pittsburgh market from Jackson, a business veteran. Registration is requested. Technology Show
    AUG. 21—Toshiba Business Solutions will host its Technology Show from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Heinz Field, 100 Art Rooney Ave., North Shore. This is an opportunity to see how one’s company can improve core business processes. Former Pittsburgh Steeler Chris Hoke will be the special guest. Registration is required by Aug. 14.
