:10—ARE – YOU – READY – FOR – SOME – FOOTBALL?
• YES, YES, AND YES! Here’s your training camp special report:
• Steelers will go 11-5 this year. No. 1—they went 8 & 8 last year and they could have gone in the tank. No. 2—they gave away a game and lost two games they should have easily won last year. No. 3—The O-Line is back and with Hall of Fame lineman, Mike Munchak. Remember, it all starts up front!
• The defense just got a much needed shot of mean, nasty, and I don’t give a damn and its name is Coach Joey Porter!
• New speed at running back and receiver.
• Vince Williams is pushing the entire linebacker core for that starting job.
• That being said, LaMarr Woodley, Ryan Clark, James Harrison, Brett Keisel and the rest of the walking wounded are gone. Get used to it people. And trust me, it’s for the good.
:09—My guess is Tiger Woods came back too soon after back surgery. “However,” with the back, you never know. As the saying goes, “Once a bad back, always a bad back!”
:08—At an upcoming game in November against the hated Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers will officially retire Joe Greene’s legendary No. 75. It has, in fact, not been worn by anyone since Joe retired. Great move and very timely because Joe is the last of the Steel Curtain to still be standing. In hindsight, it would have been great to have retired all the numbers of the greatest defensive line of all time together. LONG – LIVE – THE – CURTAIN. “Mean” Joe Greene, Dwight “Mad Dog” White, L.C. “Hollywood Bags” Greenwood and Ernie “Fats” Holmes!!!
:07—A triple play was pulled off this past weekend and as rare as they are, this one was done to perfection. It all started with the generosity of Mr. Keith B. Key in his co-sponsorship of the 40th Annual Armon “The Hammer” Gilliam Hard Work Youth Basketball Camp which included special sponsorship of twenty-five (25) area youth from East Liberty/Garfield Commons. Then you add to that, Judge Dwayne Woodruff (former Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Champion) and Attorney Bill Goodrich stepping up to sponsor the limousines that transported the kids to the camp. Man, that’s a beautiful thing! More on this amazing story with photos next week.
:06—What did I tell you about the movie? What – did – I tell – you! I told you to “Get on Up,” “Get on the Good Foot,” “Take the Night Train” and get ready for “The Big Payback,” everybody knows we like “The Hot Pants” and it breaks us out “In a Cold Sweat” and even though “It’s a Man’s World,” I don’t mind saying “Please…Please…Please” if it’s gonna let me do “The Popcorn” cause everybody knows you just gotta feel like a “Sex Machine”!!! Ahh, just go see the movie man. I gave it 4? basketballs. OOOOO now Maceo…Fred…hit me!
:05—Myron Brown was the guest star at the Armon Gilliam Camp and during his demonstration, he only missed seven shots out of about the hundred he took…and he was talking to the kid the entire time. C’mon man!
:04—Yes, kickers and punters should be in the Hall of Fame. They have stats don’t they? The best of them should be in the Hall. You old knuckleheads let that go!
:03—The broken leg suffered by Paul George of the Indiana Pacers at the international scrimmage was horrific…but, you gotta play. Players gotta play. Injuries will happen. Rocky # whatever…“Stop the fight. Please, please stop the fight. He’s going to kill Rocky! The Russian…If he dies…he dies!”
:02—Speaking of movies, and I was, the only reason to go see the movie “Lucy” is Scarlett Johansson. That’s it. She gets 10 basketballs. The movie gets 2!
:01—I want to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest sympathy to my life-long friend and comrade, Milton Oliver, for the sudden and tragic loss of his son Tyrone “Ty.” A good and great young man is gone. May God Bless and carry your family.
