This celebration and sing along is to celebrate Women’s Equality Day and to benefit S.S.A.M. (Stop Sexual Assault in the Military). Shadyside Arts Festival
Howard Alan Events and American Craft Endeavors presents the 17th Annual Shadyside Art Festival from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Walnut Street, between South Aiken and South Negley Avenues, in Shadyside. This two-day festival will include an eclectic mix of original art from local, regional and national artists, live music, and more. Monroeville Jazz Festival
The Committee for the Monroeville Jazz Festival presents the 12th Annual Monroeville Jazz Festival from 7-10 p.m. at Tall Trees Amphitheater, Monroeville Community Park West, in Monroeville. The featured performers will be the River City Brass Band and Carolyn Perteete, along with Bob Studebaker as the master of ceremonies. The Gospel Singer
The Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company presents “The Gospel Singer” at 937 Liberty Ave., Suite 3, Cultural District. This play, written by C.S. Wyatt and directed by Montez Freeland, is the story of Isaac Dumont, a man who has received a cult following as Ruthie in The Eden Club, a jazz haven where his partner, Donnie, serves as emcee. Isaac dreams of singing gospel music, a dream that frustrates Donnie, who has lost faith in himself and God. Watch to see if Isaac can restore Donnie’s faith in God and people.
