Church Women United honors Doss

The Church Women United Greater Pittsburgh Unit honored Rod Doss, editor and publisher of the New Pittsburgh Courier, at its annual Human Rights Celebration 2014 held Aug. 2 at Bethel AME Church, located at 2720 Webster Ave., in the Hill District. The theme was “Through God Our Hands Can Protect.” Doss was honored for his decades of leadership with the Courier. The event included a word on Black-on-Black violence and the church’s role in finding a solution by guest speaker Ashley Johnson, associate editor of the Courier.
