If you look up 7317 Finance St., in Homewood, on Google Maps, you’ll see a vast empty lot. But if you actually go there, you’ll find six new homes constructed by Building United of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
“It goes to show you, you can’t believe everything you read on the Internet,” said Building United Founder Rev. Samuel Ware, who joined by Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and City Councilman Rev. Ricky Burgess, cut the ribbon on the new development Sept. 10.
“Three of them are already sold and the owners should be moved in by the end of the month,” he said. “We expect the other three to be sold by then as well.”
The homes are all three-bedroom, 2 ½-bathroom units with front, side and rear yards and detached garages. The one unit designed to be handicapped accessible has been sold.
“Our objective, from the beginning has been to build quality homes and improve the quality of life in the neighborhood,” said Ware. “We took a leap of faith and we’ve been rewarded.”
