PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police have released the name of a 16-year-old girl whose naked body was found in a park, but were still seeking clues because they’re not sure how she died.
Public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler says Tuesday that police consider Teaira (tee-AYR’-uh) Whitehead’s death “suspicious.” That’s because investigators “have no evidence to indicate the cause, manner, or location of death.”
The girl’s body was spotted by joggers in Riverview Park who called 911 about 12:50 p.m. Monday.
The girl, known as “TT,” last contacted her family Sunday evening.
Police were awaiting tests by the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.
Investigators are asking anyone who had contact with her since Sunday evening to call the Homicide Unit at 412-323-7161.
