Chicago man dead in 1 of 2 Pittsburgh shootings

PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Chicago man is dead after a shooting in Pittsburgh, and police were working to determine whether that incident was connected to another shooting in which three men were wounded.
The dead man is 40-year-old Taimiel Watson.
Police found him shot in the face in a crashed car about 9 p.m. Saturday in the city’s Beltzhoover neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. During the investigation, a strong odor of gas was noticeable. The gas company was called out and several apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
They also were investigating a shooting earlier Saturday in Arlington Heights.
Public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler says three men in their 30s were shot, two in the thigh, earlier Saturday. They were hospitalized in stable condition. The third man took himself there with gunshot wounds to his arm.
Toler says one shooter ran away.
Police didn’t immediately identify or arrest any suspects in either shooting.
Ex-AG’s wife can leave jail to raise couple’s kids
PITTSBURGH (AP) – A former state prosecutor’s wife who is serving six to 12 months in jail for endangering here two adopted Ethiopian children can leave jail for eight hours each weekday to care for the couple’s biological children.
An Allegheny County judge modified 32-year-old Kristen Barbour’s sentence on Friday over the objections of county prosecutors.
Barbour and her 35-year-old husband Douglas, were sentenced last month after pleading no contest to child endangerment counts in June. Douglas Barbour, who’s on probation, resigned from the state attorney general’s office after the couple was charged in October 2012.
That’s when their 6-year-old adopted son was being malnourished and an 18-month-old girl had multiple head fractures in various stages of healing.
Douglas Barbour now lives and works at his family’s nursery farm.
