- The truth of the matter is even before I spoke to Connie Hawkins about running a league in his name at the Homewood YMCA, other guys get the credit for kicking the whole thing off. Here’s to Thomas “June Bug” Howard and Jimmy Nichols who stormed into my office my first day on the job in 1974 (First professional job out of college. Program Director at the “Y”.) and at age ten demanding to know if they can have a YMCA hoop team! The rest my friends is history.
- Here’s to “Bug”, “Nick”, and the hundreds of kids, players, coaches, volunteers, staff, spectators and participants that helped make Champion Enterprises what it is and “40” glorious years.
- I would tell ya Pitt is it, but I can only tell ya about last night . . . and last night there was not a better team to be found as they dismantled Virginia Tech. Let’s just hope they can keep the mojo!
- Your Pittsburgh Steelers will bounce back and big. Look for Houston to take a Texas size whooping (not to be confused with Adrian Peterson). The Steelers will win by ten. Take it to the bank!
