BET Hip Hop Awards beats 'Monday Night Football,' leads winning week for network

(October 23, 2014) BET got a boost from its airing of the Hip Hop Awards hosted by Uncle Snoop, aka Snoop Dogg. The awards show took No.1 on the Top 25 cable shows in Black households for the third week of October and pulled BET slightly ahead of ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”
BET was the most watched cable network among those on the Top 25, with 8.6 million viewers across seven shows. VH1 fell to second place from the previous week, claiming 5.7 million watching four of its shows. OWN was third with a distant 3.2 million for three shows.
The total number of viewers for the Top 25 most popular shows in Black homes, according to Nielsen, was 28.5 million, or 11 percent less than the previous week’s total.
