Propel Hazelwood opened their doors this year to a crowd of enthusiastic and excited families! Propel Hazelwood is the tenth school in Propel’s federation of high performing public schools that currently serves 3,500 students.
Tina Chekan PhD, superintendent/CEO of Propel Schools, is excited about being part of the renaissance that is taking place in Hazelwood.
“We are proud to take our place in this community at this important time in its revitalization,” she said. “We look forward to getting to know our neighbors and building new collaborations with Hazelwood partners that will ultimately benefit our students.”
Propel Hazelwood Principal, LaKiesha George, intentionally refers to her new students as “scholars.” “Our scholars know that they can and will make a difference in their school, community and world. Each scholar has talents that make them a unique part of our family.”
Propel Hazelwood is educating students in grades K-4 in this inaugural year. The school will add a grade each year, eventually becoming a K-8 facility. A fifth grade will be added in the 2015/16 school year.
