(Monroeville, Pa.)—-For a quarter of a century, Tommy Green had been working as a manufacturing executive. His career, which saw him interact with companies like Ford, Toyota and NACCO Material Handling Group, took him around the world, eventually putting him in charge of manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India and China. But facing the prospect of retirement, Green, along with wife and business partner Delores, decided instead to take over the Signarama location at 4901 Old William Penn Highway.
The decision to take over an existing Signarama franchise, which provides signage solutions including digital displays, banners, vehicle wraps and more, was spurred on by the fact that all five of the Greens’ children were out of the house. “With all five of our kids now out of the house, there was nothing keeping us from going into business for ourselves,” says Tommy.
The Greens, who took over the Signarama location in October, say that LED replacing Neon signage is the popular trend at their Monroeville location. Already, the couple adds, they feel as if they’re having an indelible impact on the Monroeville area. “What I like most about the signage businesses is working with clients and assisting them to achieve their business objectives through visual marketing solutions; I get to literally see our clients’ success,” adds Tommy. “I also like contributing to the community, where I can drive through the community and see the work we have been a part of everyday.”
After only a month of operation, Tommy and Delores see room for big growth. “We took over an existing franchise because it allowed us to start a business with proven success,” Tommy notes. “But we want to be bigger. We plan on adding more employees and expanding our coverage to provide the same high-quality signage solutions to customers beyond the Monroeville area.”
