PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police say a Pittsburgh man bought an 18-inch machete from an Army-Navy store and within minutes attacked someone standing with his ex-girlfriend at a bus stop.
Police say 26-year-old Jason Lamonte Butler sliced Frederick Pryor’s arm Monday. Pryor is hospitalized in stable condition.
Butler is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and other offenses. He remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Police say Butler told them he was confronting his ex-girlfriend over $400 she owed him when he and Pryor nearly got into a fistfight. Butler told WPXI-TV Pryor provoked him by pulling out a knife.
