3-Alarm fire displaces 8 in Point Breeze

PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 4 a.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to a fire in the 6800 block of McPherson Boulevard in Point Breeze. At the time of the 3-alarm fire, eight individuals were present – three adults and five children.
Two adult females and a 11-month-old infant were taken to West Penn Hospital. One 63-year-old woman escaped with the infant to the porch roof where they were rescued. The baby has since been released and the woman remains at the hospital in stable condition. The second woman, who was found in cardiac arrest, was rescued from the second floor of the structure. She is 65 and remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Smoke detectors were present and working in the structure at the time of the fire. At this time, the fire is believed to have originated on the second floor and spread throughout the second and third floor.
The Red Cross is assisting the family in with housing.
This was a job well done by our Public Safety personnel.
