Western Pennsylvania 'warms' up, snow still delaying schools

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Morning temperatures are about 20 degrees warmer than they were a day ago in western Pennsylvania, but hundreds of schools were still delaying classes because of the cold – and some blowing snow which made side streets slick, but didn’t seem to be seriously affecting well-traveled roads.
More than 300 schools or districts were delaying classes with temperatures hovering around 20 degrees in Pittsburgh. The temperature was about zero in many areas Thursday.
The temperatures were forecast to dip again overnight into Saturday to about zero, with the National Weather Service issuing an advisory that wind chills will drop to 20-below late Friday into Saturday.
Sunday is forecast to be the first day above freezing in about a week, with a high of 37 in Pittsburgh.
