The Opinionated Spectator …NFL Championship Picks

This is the time of the year when we get to see who the true champions are in the NFL. I love these games. You have to put up or shut up. Remember, this is the game last year when America became introduced formally to Richard Sherman. Today, they will be reintroduced to Richard Sherman and his Legion of Boom.
I love to see the NFC and AFC championship because the stakes are so high.
There are four teams and only two will emerge victoriously.

I wouldn’t pick Green Bay to win this game if you paid me. Granted, Green Bay has the best offense in the league and they are fully capable of winning this game.  Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league but he injured right now. The Seahawks are going to target him all 60 minutes. He is limited in his mobility and he will not win this game.
Seattle has been talking about this game all year long.  It is the last step before they get back to their Super Bowl game.  Do not think by any stretch of the imagination that Seattle Seahawks are going to lose this game at home. If Seattle was any other team, I would be concerned that they would be looking ahead to the Super Bowl and somehow let this game slip away. But, it’s not in their championship DNA to waste opportunities.  Be prepared to hear about the Legion of Boom. Be prepared to hear about Russell Wilson, Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman. I have Seattle winning this game.
Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots
This game is going to be tight. Andrew Luck is dangerous. I repeat, Andrew Luck is dangerous. There is no reason why I shouldn’t pick him and his Colts to win this game. He represents the new breed of quarterbacks in the league. During the Denver Broncos game, he threw an interception and afterwards he smiled and laughed on the sidelines and just went back out there and kept winning. It was actually quite a sight to behold. In that moment, he told me everything I needed to know about Andrew Luck.
Andrew Luck is a winner and he is not afraid of anybody. Peyton Manning doesn’t scare him. Tom Brady doesn’t scare him. And Andrew Luck is not afraid to play well in big games. But I must look at the game in its totality.  Tom Brady is tired of losing. He is tired of losing Super Bowls and losing playoff games. He is not going to simply let Andrew Luck come into his house and beat him.
During the Ravens game, Brady’s team was down by 14 points on two separate occasions. And he brought them back on both occasions.  He wasn’t perfect but he had a determination that was unshakeable. And that’s why I’m giving the edge to Brady. Brady is going to have to overcome several obstacles considering his team’s running game is almost nonexistent and his defense needs to reevaluate why they all looked like they should be headliners on Bengay commercials.
Brady willed his team to a victory against a very capable team in a close hard battle. Frankly, I have no reason to believe that this week will not be the same type of game. Close. Tight. Ugly. But in the end, a New England Patriots’ win.
Champions rise and legends are born during these NFC and AFC championship games.
For each team, who is going to step up in the moment? Who is going to create a game changing turnover? Who is going to throw a costly interception? Who is going to catch an uncatchable pass?
Who is going to the Super Bowl? My pick, Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots
Playoff Record: 6-2
