Promoter Bob Arum announced that Manny Pacquiao, a/k/a “Pac-Man” has agreed to all terms to fight Floyd “Money” Mayweather. If it comes off, it will be the biggest payday in history…$120 million for “Big Money” and $80 million for “Pac-Man.”
:09—With this NFL coaching carousel going so fast, I’ve lost track of “The Rooney Rule.” Is it still in effect? Is it not? I’m just askin’! (The Rooney Rule = you gotta interview some Black guys before you hire a White guy…you know, like they did Mike Tomlin.)
:08—The great Dick LeBeau left Steelers camp after 100 years of service without much noise. Thanks Coach for all you’ve done. You’ve been great. Enter defensive coordinator in waiting Keith Butler. Yo Keith, you got some big shoes to fill.
:07—Pitt B-Ball Coach Jamie Dixon picked up his 300th win Wednesday night against Florida State at “The Pete.” Dixon is 300 wins and 101 losses in 401 career games ranking him 19th all-time in Division One coaches in terms of quickest to get to 300 wins.
:06—Thanks to the generosity of B.B. Flenory (Yes, damn it, the B.B. stands for basketball. How many times do I have to keep telling you?!?!) Anyway, thanks to him “The Professor” (a/k/a Vince Neal) and I enjoyed “free” food, drinks and Duquesne Dukes hospitality at the top of the Blue Line Grille and great comp seats at the Consol Arena to watch the Dukes lose a good game to VCU. Man, it’s good to know people in high places…yeah, it’s good to know B.B. too! (P.S.—this is just me. If I’ve got one of the top 3-point shooters in the nation on my team, he’s going to get the ball every time I come down the floor if I’m trailing inside two minutes. I’m just sayin’!)
:05—The NCAA gave Joe Paterno all his games back and more good stuff to come, including Bowl game money. Now I’m not the type to say I told ya so…well, who are we kidding, yes I am! Shut up B.B.—yep, same guy that hooked me up, but right is right.
