Six million Black viewers for Fox's 'Empire' keeps drama at No.1 on the Top 25

In its second week as the newest entry on the Fox network, “Empire” attracted an even larger audience than in its debut week. The Wednesday prime time drama had a 13 percent increase among all Black viewers, for a total of 6.3 million. Black viewers were 61 percent of the total of 10.3 million that tuned in, placing the show at No.11 among all prime time programs for the second week of January.
CBS remained the most watched TV network in Black households, with 21.5 million across 14 of its shows on the Top 25. Fox took second place in the network race, posting 12.9 million viewers for six of its charted programs. At a distant third was ABC with 2.5 million for just three shows.
The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in Black homes, according to Nielsen, was down 13 percent from the previous week to 38.9 million.
