Vanessa German: The Ordinary Sacred grand opening was Jan. 29 at Concept Art Gallery.
German balances poetry and subject matter to create work that explores African American history, the current state of race relations, and the power of art for transformation and healing.  It was an honor for German’s most recent work to be presented   in her hometown of Pittsburgh.
Additional events related to the exhibition included “An Ordinary Sacred Happening in Homewood” on Feb. 7. The event was held behind the New Arthouse on Hamilton Avenue., Guests were asked to bring a bottle with a sacred or healing word, phrase, etc., to make an interactive ordinary sacred space.
On Feb. 26, from 6-8 p.m., there will be a Closing Reception at the gallery with performances, Q&A and a special poetry booklet signing.
