Bingo, Spades, Bridge, Pinochle and prizes are what make the Annual Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Card Party tick. On Jan. 17, at the Double Tree in Monroeville, more than 300 women heated up the ballroom on a chilly January day. There were great baskets to bid on, lottery wreaths to wish for and a healthy 50/50 raffle to win.
This year Gloria Hill served as emcee while Rochelle Chatman and Rhonda Carson Leach were event co-chairs. Before the noon hour, the ballroom was filled and the crowd was ready for lunch. During the luncheon tickets were pulled and prizes were won. There were a lot of happy people in the audience as they walked about with lottery tickets, beautiful baskets and cash.
The proceeds of the luncheon assist with the DST five point programs and scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize academic excellence, to stimulate undergraduates scholastically, and to help deserving undergraduates financially.
Mark your calendars for the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of DST Swing into Spring Arts Luncheon and Fashion Show on March 21 at the Double Tree Hotel in Monroeville. Yours truly will commentate the show.
