The University of Phoenix officially announced that it will be giving away 40 fully-paid tuition scholarships for individuals making positive contributions to the African American community.
The announcement was made on the grand stage provided by the 46th Annual NAACP Image Awards weekend, which took place in Pasadena, Calif., and millions of urbanites and others tuned into.
Entitled the University of Phoenix “Road to Success Scholarship” program, The tuition program is being launched via a series of videos created in partnership with One Solution – the integrated marketing arm of TV One’s parent company – depicting success stories and accomplishments of African American University of Phoenix alumni, premiering today during the awards telecast and online.
When someone earns a college degree, it not only changes his or her future, but also the future of their entire family.   University of Phoenix has created this program to bring the same opportunities alumni shared in the videos to many others in the Black community, in hopes of increasing the number of graduates entering the education, healthcare and criminal justice and security professions – fields in which African Americans are underrepresented.
