City Black History Month Exhibit
Citiparks presents “Pittsburgh Legacy of Leaders: Laying the Groundwork for Our Future Leaders” City of Pittsburgh Black History Month Exhibit from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the City-County Building, 414 Grant St., Downtown. Throughout the month of February, the exhibit will showcase the accomplishments of four outstanding African Americans. They are, James Brown, director of the YMCA Lighthouse Project; Tamasia Johnson, founding director of The Pearl Club; Alichia Parker, president and founder of A PAR Educational LLC; and Ryan Scott, co-director of the Black Male Leadership Development Institute. Concept Art Gallery presents “Vanessa German: The Ordinary Sacred” at the Concept Art Gallery, 1031 S. Braddock Ave., Edgewood. Vanessa German balances poetry and subject matter to create works that explores African American history, the current state of race relations, and the power of art for transformation and healing. Malpaso Dance Company
The Kelly Strayhorn Theater and The Joyce Theater in NYC present Cuba’s Malpaso Dance Company at 8 p.m. at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is the company’s U.S. premier and the show will include two original works featuring choreography by Trey McIntyre and artistic director Osnel Delgado.
